6.15.13 Downtown Seattle. Baltic Room. Crazy. #SeattleTeam #TurnUp
This track has a brighter feel then the other tracks I recorded for the “so illegal” project but I felt it was too good to leave behind. It shows off my more comedic side with some of the lines and tones that I use throughout the track. It’s produced by my homie Stump Uno, who I met when I was living out in Seattle in 2011. Dude has archives of beats on his laptop that go back six or seven years! He let me hold a couple and this is the one that made it on the project. I feel the theme of the track is pretty self explanatory. It just talks about wanting to make it to the top and how once you make it there you plan on pitching a tent and staying there.

“so illegal” COMING SOON!
This is my first solo music video and I had a lot of fun shooting it. The video was shot at two locations on the east side of Ann Arbor, MI near where I grew up. I wanted the video to show what Michigan was like in the dead of winter but also how we still can have fun and come together even when it’s freezing. I also like how you can almost feel the cold when you watch it because of how bundled up we all were and how the snow was falling throughout the entire video. We really couldn’t have picked a better day! And the crazy part is that there was literally no snow on the ground about a week before the shoot, but that’s just classic Michigan weather. It was really cool to have some of my Branch Out Family on the set with me, as well as my younger brother D-Squeeze and the young homie Professor Megablown. I was happy that I got to shoot the second verse at my old elementary school, Pittsfield Elementary, which is also where the basketball hoop from the single artwork is from. I really wanted to showcase that school because that’s where I feel it all started for me. It was crazy shooting there because when I was in 5th grade I used to play on those basketball courts and play tag on that playground. It was an honor to work with someone as talented as Cy who was really good at helping me realize my vision for the video and I don’t think it could have turned out any better. I really hope you all enjoy it!

This is the first single from my upcoming project “So Illegal.” The title comes from me being in the studio all the time, writing and recording, and how that place becomes my paradise.
